Nepal welcomes most visitors with a tourist visa that can be obtained on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and at selected land entry points. You may also apply through a Nepalese embassy before travelling.
Tourist visas are available for 15, 30, or 90 days, with current fees of USD 30, USD 50, and USD 125. They are multiple-entry visas and begin from your date of arrival. Before travel, complete the online tourist-visa form, save or print the barcode receipt, and carry a passport valid for at least six months. The online submission receipt is valid for 15 days.
On arrival, present your passport and application receipt, pay the visa fee, and proceed to the immigration desk. Immigration officers may ask for your Nepal address, return or onward travel details, and evidence that you can support yourself.
Tourist visas can normally be extended in Nepal, up to a combined maximum stay of 150 days in a calendar year. Some nationalities are not eligible for a visa on arrival and must obtain a visa before departure.
